Josh Nichols (aka: Wren Silas) is a Dallas-based singer-songwriter, producer, and visionary who has an extreme passion for helping others heal through the arts. Growing up in a small but evolving town in the suburbs of Colin County; Josh explored multiple different areas of interest. He had originally done sports as a child but was intensely drawn to more creative outlets, and his hyperactive nature had led him to pursue interests like dance, theater, choir, drawing, painting, stop-motion, fictional storytelling, as well as, filming and editing for content and short-film purposes.

As a teenager their family’s dynamic shifted drastically and as a result Josh had slowly developed complex emotional trauma; this would also be when he started to write his feelings in the form of songs. The painful experiences Josh had endured growing up has made him resilient, and their love for music attributes to that. Some of what he’s achieved has been  winning the 1st and 3rd place spots in the Dallas Songwriter’s Contest, within the Young Songwriters Category in 2021. He was originally a student at another college far from his hometown, but transferred later to attend the University of North Texas (UNT), and was accepted into the College of Music’s Classical Voice Program his first year there (2023). During that first year, he applied alongside hundreds of other applicants for the new and highly-anticipated Commercial Music Program. In the midst of struggling to adjust to his first year at a new school, Josh felt extremely lucky to be welcomed as one of the first 15 people to be a Commercial Music Major at UNT (2024). However, Josh’s biggest accomplishment within his music career thus far has been; entering the Wango Tango contest with iHeartRadio, and getting as far as the Quarterfinals during the spring of 2025 - all while maintaining his academics during his college journey.

For many years, he had been silently suffering thinking that something was wrong with him. His doctors and therapists deemed him as being depressed or anxious for many years, but later on he was formally diagnosed with ADHD. Josh felt that this discovery of being neurodivergent helped him grow as a person, and ultimately lead him to create his own brand as an artist, Wren Silas. Josh’s educational development has aided him in helping him to grow as a musician at an exceptional rate, and alongside their strong desire to grow as a person; anything’s become possible with enough determination. Through all the struggles he’s endured, Josh has been able to accomplish a lot in his mental health and self-discovery journey; the hyper-fixated love he has for music and storytelling has allowed him to create entirely new worlds. With time, he hopes to help others feel seen through the stories and music he creates; and simultaneously he wants to expand his knowledge by working with a variety of different entrepreneurs, musicians, and other creatives.
